
Quavo, T.I., Dwight Howard and More Attend Lou Williams Annual Basketball Camp
Atlanta, GA. 27 July 2018 – This past week NBA 6th Man of the Year & LA Clipper guard, Lou Williams and the Lou Williams Foundation, held their 14th annual basketball camp at his alma mater, South Gwinnett High School, in Atlanta. This acclaimed summer camp hosted over 180 kids (ages 6-15) for a week-long training camp. Each day the campers spent the day learning fundamental basketball skills from Lou Williams, Chuck Ellis (renown NBA trainer) and their counseling staff. Each day Lou Williams invited special guests to surprise the kids throughout the week. On Monday, NBA Veteran and Sports Commentator – Stephen Jackson, dropped by to watch the kids play and give an inspirational speech on leading by faith. |

On Tuesday, rap artist Kap G, popped up at the camp to share inspiring words, while LA Clippers own Mike Scott swung by to watch the kids play and coach from the side lines. |

Wednesday was a jam packed day with appearances. NBA superstar Dwight Howard spent the day with the kids coaching them as they played, giving motivational words and having a very intimate extended conversation on basketball, education and more with the older group of teens. Following Dwight’s encouraging moment Comedian, Actor and Artist Lil Duval dropped in for a hilarious Q&A with the campers. Wrapping up Wednesday, legendary hip hop artist – T.I., inspired the by youth dropping several gems including how to really pursue your dreams and believe in yourself. |

The Last day of camp, Thursday, campers played several intense 5-on-5 games amongst each other and their counselors to show off their new-found hoop skills. Atlanta based barber, Deemz Done It, came to the gym providing free back-to-school hair cuts for the attending campers as well. Closing out the week, each child was presented a certificate of completion alongside a complimentary book bag filled with school supplies on behalf of the Lou Williams Foundation. While the kids grabbed their items and their favorite ice cream treat from Atlanta Ice Cream truck, rap star Quavo of the Migos popped up to give the kids one final surprise. The campers rushed around Quavo while taking pictures and getting shoes and shirts autographed. “I’ve been hosting this camp annually for over a decade now and it’s my goal to continue to make the camp bigger and better for the kids,” Lou Williams states, “Thanks again to campers as well as my sponsors and all of the celebs and athletes who took time out of their busy schedule to support my camp and the youth.” |
